Three years ago I went to Germany to see the World Cup Final. It was a fantastic experience! We were very excited, so arrived at the huge modern stadium five hours early. There were thousands of happy people outside and a lot of them were dancing and singing excitedly. We went inside and couldn’t wait to get to our seats. |
Episode 1.
I: Do you consider yourself good with money?
No, I think I’m pretty bad on the whole. It makes me anxious. It freaks me out. Yeah.
I: Do you think women are better at manging money than men?
On the whole, probably, yeah. I certainly think my wife’s better. I think she and many women are better planners. More sensible about these things. Yeah.
I: Do you think having more money would make you happier?
In a kind of banal way, I could get to do certain things more easily, yes, but maybe not in the bigger picture.
Episoide 2.
I: Do you consider yourself good with money?
Yeah, I think so. I’ve never been in debt, so I think that’s pretty good going seeing as I’m quite old now. An yeah, I spend a lot on shoes, that’s my only weekness, I think.
I: Do you think women are better at manging money than men?
I don’t really think it’s a gender issue. I mean, I’m pretty good with my money, but my brother is rubbish, he’s always in debt, but my husband is fine, so I’m not sure there’s a gender thing going on there.
I: Do you think having more money would make you happier?
Pretty happy as I am actually, so no.
Episode 3.
I: Do you consider yourself good with money?
I do actually, yeah.
Why?
Because I never go overdrawn, I pay off my credit card, I try to make sure my savings get a reasonable rate of interest, I never run out of cash, I’m just a kind of an organized person money-wise.
I: Do you think women are better at manging money than men?
That’s a tricky one. In some respects I think so. I wouldn’t want to fall into stereotyping. I think men and women spend money on different things. I mean I do a lot of cycling, and if you see a man and a woman out cycling, the man always has a better bike. Always. It’s quite amazing. So I think men like spending money on their thongs, whereas women might spend money more on family things. I don’t know. So in that sense I think women have more of a perspective on money than men do.
I: Do you think having more money would make you happier?
I think having a bit more might. I think having a lot more it’s difficult to say. I think a lot of people find large sums of money , if you won the lottery say, that would quite hard to deal with, I think. But you know, an extra 10,000 a year I think would be just about right. Yeah.
Episode 4.
- Do you consider yourself good with money?
- Not good enough, no.
- Why not?
- Why not? I’m not veryt good at making budgets and sticking to them.
- Do you think women are better at manging money than men?
- I think that depends. The ones I know probably are not.
- Do you think having more money would make you happier?
- In New York, yes. In most places no.
Episode 5.
I: Do you consider yourself good with money?
No, not at all. I spend it without thinking and just I’m very lazy looking for bargains and things, whereas I have friends who look carefully for the cheapest option. I just can’t be bothered to do that so I tend to spend money like water. It’s awful.
I: Do you think women are better at manging
money than men?
Not necessary, but now I think about it I think maybe women go, I know it’s stereotypical to say, but maybe women go shopping more together as a sort of social activity, whereas men tend to, you know, I don’t know, stay in their rooms or work or something. I don’t know.
I: Do you think having more money would make you happier?
I think it might, yes. I think I might be very happy with more money, I can, yeah, just not think about money at all, and spend all the money I want and go out, have nice meals, and go on holiday. That would be great.
